Turn heads with this eco-chic project.
Headphones are some of the toughest things to reuse. To add to that problem, cheap earbud headphones (you know, the kind that came with your iPod) are notorious for breaking easily. What do you do with these kinds of headphones once they have, inevitably, broken? Turn them into earrings, I say!
How to turn your earbud headphones into earrings:
1. Locate your materials.
You'll need the earbuds from your headphones (cut them so they've got about two inches of wire still attached), jewelry pliers, earring backs, scissors, and beads.
2. String a bead through the wire on each earbud and secure each one in place by tying the wire in a knot.
3. Cut the wire off at the base of the knot.
Expand your earring backs with your jewelry pliers and attach the backs to the knots. Use the jewelry pliers to close the earring backs.
Enjoy! I can't wait to start wearing these earrings out on the town. Not only are they a great way to reuse something seemingly useless, but they're bound to catch the eye of friends and strangers alike, presenting to you the perfect opportunity to discuss your green lifestyle.
