If you have no use for a tape, turn it into a necklace.

There was a time when cassette tapes were simply how you heard music. That time came somewhere between vinyl records and cds and now that most of us are listening to music digitally, many of us have no use for the cassette tapes we once cherished. So what do you do with an old tape? Help it avoid a future in a landfill by turning it into a hip necklace.

How to turn a cassette tape into a hip necklace:

Choose Cassette Tape

Remove the cassette tape from the case.

Decorate

Decorate the tape however you wish. I used a Salvador Dali image and sealed it down with eco-friendly glue. You could use an image, old buttons, sequin, pieces of aluminum or glass, or anything else you can think of for this.

Finish and Enjoy!

Turn the tape upside down and string a chain or thread through the little holes on the used-to-be bottom. I had a pizza delivered recently that came in a box that was tied with thread (charming, right?) and I used the thread for my necklace.

Enjoy! This project is a great way to make use of an old tape and get some green fashion attention while you're at it.
