While we like to promotekeeping your existing computer for as long as possible, we also know upgrades happen. If you're upgrading to a new computer and aren't sure what to do with your old, beyond recycling it, check out Gigabytes for Good.

Gigabytes for Good is a new initiative launched by neighBORROW and Goods for Good. The two organizations have combined efforts to send used computers to community organizations that care for orphans in Malawi, East Africa. The groups collect lightly used and useful computers, and ship them to organizations in Malawi that help children.

If you have a computer that is less than six years old with a quality hard drive, keyboard and battery, you could help out. There are two ways you can get used computers to the group. One is by listing the item on your profile at neighBORROW.com. Or, you can donate directly to Goods for Good. However, if you create a profile at neighBORROW, you'll be able to track the location of the computer you donate, helping to turn up the heat on that warm fuzzy feeling you'll undoubtedly get.

Be sure to properly prepare your computer for donation so that no private information heads off into someone else's hands.

If your computer is too old for Gigabytes for Good, you can also, trade it in so it can be refurbished and made useful again.
