Green Power, in the eyes the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is a partnership of sorts, e.g "The Green Power Partnership is a voluntary program that supports the organizational procurement of green power by offering expert advice, technical support, tools and resources. Partnering with EPA can help your organization lower the transaction costs of buying green power, reduce its carbon footprint, and communicate its leadership to key stakeholders. Green power is electricity produced from a subset of renewable resources, such as solar, wind, geothermal, biomass, and low-impact hydro. Buying green power is one of the easiest and most effective ways to improve your organization's s environmental performance."
Through the Green Power Partnership, the US government reports "more than 8.2 billion kilowatt hours of green power are being purchased by companies, colleges, municipalities, and other organizations annually. This is the equivalent amount of electricity needed to power more than 670,000 average American homes per year or needed to reduce the equivalent carbon dioxide emissions of more than 1.1 million passenger cars on U.S. roads."
