Planned obsolescence is the "art of making a product break/fail after a certain amount of time. Not so soon that you will blame the manufacturer, but soon enough for you to buy another one and make more profit for them."
"It's a common complaint that technology advances so rapidly, new products hitting the shelves are outdated the second they arrive there," writes Jaymi Heimbuch at TreeHugger. "Before we even purchase a device, new versions and varied models are under production. Consumers are easily overwhelmed and confused with the differences in manufacturers' crowded product lines." Fortunately, Heimbuch offers a bunch of tips for greening our gadgets. These include:
