Get to know a greenvention each week that may change the way you think about greening your life and your world.

There's been a lot of talk about green laptops and snazzy, computing cell phones (something about an I phone?). But since when did desktop computers get left in the dust? There are still some pretty intriguing innovations happening on the old monitor 'n tower front, too.

For instance, the fine blog EcoGeek (whose writers have been known to drop by Treehugger from time to time to answer tech questions) recently profiled this stunningly small desktop from Shuttle Computers. The entire computer unit is ten inches long and seven wide-and only three inches tall. That's one tiny tower. But what makes it so green? Well, besides requiring less material to make, it also requires a mere fraction of the electricity—it uses a mere 36 watts while standard desktops suck up somewhere between 70 and 250. That's a pretty staggering reduction.

And while the computers aren't available yet, you can check out Shuttle's other tiny innovations in computing on their website. And keep an eye on those miniscule desktops-pretty soon we won't be able to tell them apart from laptops.
