Call2Recycle has hit a big milestone. Since starting up in 1994, the recycling program has succeeded in collecting over 50 million pounds of rechargeable batteries, helping to divert them from landfills. With some cities now requiring rechargeable batteries be recycled, Call2Recycle is an important resource. Make an Earth Day action out of helping Call2Recycle hit its next milestone!
To make sure all your rechargeable batteries are properly recycled, you can pop on to Call2Recycle's website and enter in your zip code for a nearby drop-off location. It's one of the easiest steps you can take to keep toxins out of our waste stream and landfills.
There are more than 30,000 public drop-off locations in the U.S. and Canada, whereby Call2Recycle partners have helped to collect and recycle more than 50 million pounds of used rechargeable batteries and cell phones—recycling over 7 million pounds last year alone!
Also last year, the program expanded to accept a new battery chemistry, now collecting nickel zinc rechargeable batteries in addition to nickel cadmium, nickel metal hydride, lithium ion and small sealed lead acid battery chemistries. So this Earth Day, take action on recycling your batteries!
