Save Big Bucks When You Ride Public Transit
Riding public transit can not only be a great way to reduce our collective dependency on oil, take cars off the road, and make for less time wasted sitting in traffic, but it can save you money, too. And we're not talking just a few pennies, here or there: according to a study (PDF) by the American Public Transportation Association (APTA), families that use public transportation can reduce their household expenses by $6,200 each year. That's more than the average U.S. household spends on food in a year!
So don't be intimidated about starting and, if it goes well, consider getting rid of your car altogether to save even more.
