TerraCycle prevents thousands of tons of waste from going into our landfills. The company's mission to eliminate landfill waste by finding innovative and unique uses for materials that others would deem garbage is coming to New York City. Now they're aiming their sights on educating and sharing their upcycled products with New Yorkers.
The company that brought you cool items made from waste has just opened The Greenup Shop in the Port Authority Bus Terminal in New York City. TerraCycle is honoring the 40th anniversary of Earth Day with an exhibition education area and a boutique featuring some of New York's finest green design and fashion. TerraCycle will also use the space to collect from over 30 different non-recyclable waste streams, turning the store into the world's largest 'Upcycling Center.' Consumers who drop off waste will be entitled to a discount on the products they purchase.

In addition to showcasing a wide range of green products, services and companies that New York has to offer, the space will be active every week with unique events to celebrate Earth Day. These events will include appearances and book signings from TerraCycle CEO Tom Szaky, The Lazy Environmentalist, Josh Dorfman; and a documentary airing featuring the National Geographic series Garbage Moguls, which profiles TerraCycle. Plus, a Riverkeeper Educational Seminar will be included in the curriculum. They will also be running free lunchtime workout sessions every Wednesday and offer a full range of premium eco-fitness and yoga products from Natural Fitness. In addition to using the most environmentally friendly materials like natural rubber, hemp and cork, Natural Fitness funds the planting of a tree for every product purchased.
