The Tesla Model S
Tesla Motors
What can we say when Buying Green and Electric Cars? Tesla Motors
There are cars and then there are Tesla Motors Electric Cars. I drove their electric cars last week and I can tell you there is truly nothing like Tesla's great eco-innovation today.
I was blessed to attend the launch date for the Tesla electric car model S from Tesla Motors. Brian Howard from the Daily Green wrote a story about the night too. Jim Motavalli was there from the Daily Green; Remy Chevalier from Electrifying Times and Shannon Arvizu from Columbia University who is doing her PhD on electric cars and how their resurgence will affect the economy and the auto industry, were also in attendance.
It was a great http://cm.howstuffworks.com/article-template.php?step2night and we all celebrated the electric car with Elon Musk while viewing him on the David Letterman Show that night.
Tesla Model S
This Model S has the class of a vehicle like no other. Great interior, great seating and well; the movie clip (below) says it all. The Tesla Model S electric car that IS on the market has an amazing AC drive of a new design with a new controller, new motor, and new battery sub-system.
The other great thing is that the Model S is a 7 seat sports sedan for (with tax credits) about $35,000. That's the way to bring the price down from $110,000 for the Roadster (don't you think?).
Shannon, Remy and I drove in one. Check out the video:
One of the things I loved about the night was hearing David Letterman really explain the need to build electric cars now for our economy and so we don't have to close plants in Detroit. It was quite moving (no pun) to see him speak up like that and applaud the electric car. It gave such an endorsement of support. It was great to see!
Tesla Roadster
I also drove the Tesla Roadster which was AMAZING!!!!
We didn't get that on film but the Tesla Roadster delivers full torque every moment you are in the car. Its peak torque begins at 0 rpm and stays powerful at 13,000 rpm.
This makes the Tesla Roadster six times as efficient as the best sports cars while producing one-tenth of the pollution. The figure in the slideshow (above right) shows you that performance versus an internal combustion engine and the numbers speak for themselves. The Tesla is a great "build your own" EV sports car for the masses today!!! Talk about Buying Green Today!
The connection with the motor and batteries in an intelligent and efficient manner is the controller using [url='http://www.acpropulsion.com/',AC Propulsion[/url] technology! The best part is that it is available today and will become more so in the future!
The black line represents the torque capabilities of a gasoline engine, which has little torque at low rpm and can only deliver reasonable horsepower within a narrow rpm range. In contrast, the dotted line demonstrates how the Tesla Roadster's electric motor produces high torque at zero rpm, delivers constant acceleration up to 6,000 rpm, and continues to provide high power up to 13,000 rpm. The gray line shows the shaft power from the Tesla Roadster's electric motor as it builds steadily with increasing speed to a peak of 189 kW at around 8,000 rpm.
If You Can The Tesla: Get A Tesla Today!
So, if you can, drive a Tesla. One new dealership will be in NYC!!! You can get them now! Some excerpts taken from Build Your Own Electric Vehicle, 2nd Edition by Seth Leitman and Bob Brandt.
Also, enjoy the video from Shannon Arvizu. Thanks to Tesla Motors and Remy Chevalier and the great people at Tesla Motors!!
