Get Green Music isn't the only game in town when it comes to downloads with a purpose.

There's also a music platform called Actiontrax, where every album supports a good cause.

An upcoming project, called Power Up The Planet, will help bring solar power to impoverished people, says Dan Porras, founder and CEO of the site.

Bands involved with Power Up include Thievery Corp, Zap Mama and a fantastic latin, hip hop, rock powerhouse called Ozomatli.

Planetwize bills itself as "a for-profit venture that offers strategic and financial support for innovative non-profits."

The site requires music lovers to download full albums, rather than individual tracks, to maximize the impact of their purchases.

At least 10 percent of the sales revenue from every album on the site supports a cause. In some cases, all the proceeds are donated to charity, the company says.

Actiontrax plans to grow its music catalog significantly in the future, and other projects are in the works, Porras says.

Power Up The Planet is due for release on Oct. 24, 350.org's International Day of Climate Action. A portion of proceeds from the album will support the work of SolarAid, training villagers in Africa on how to turn kerosene lamps into solar LED lamps using local materials and inexpensive solar panels.
