Art For Global Justice
DCL
Art for Global Justice is an organization that uses the power of art to create social change in the world. Their aim is to provide youth workshops, art exhibits, and an art exchange programs to facilitate this movement to create a more just planet.
This project is holding an art show in New York City to raise money and awareness to combat the root causes of global and local injustices. They aim to inspire the world to stand for what is right and keep an open mind. Art For Global Justice believes this can be accomplished through the production of art, the sharing of art, and the receiving of art. Working with kids and raising questions about social change factors heavily into their mission.
Many underprivileged schools and communities throughout the world do not have enough resources to teach children the basics, let alone expose children to art and the practice or creating art. Art education influences students to learn to think creatively, to effectively problem solve, and to find their own hidden talents.
They've brought together a talented group of professional and student artists to show their work for the cause.
"All profits from sales of artwork will be split evenly between the artist and Art for Global Justice. In this way we can help local artists and allow our youth workshops and art exchange programs to be sustainable. The content of the Art for Global Justice exhibits will promote social justice issues and global awareness." ~ Alexandra Cunningham, Director Art for Global Justice
