Australia is facing its biggest drought in a century. Most scientists agree that this drought was caused by the actions of man, and it looks as if the drought will only get worse in the decades ahead.
The drought has had worldwide implications. There have been food shortages and riots in Asia and Africa. The rising price of grain has hurt livestock production, reducing the overall amount of food once again. As the population and planet's temperature rise, this problem gets exponentially greater.
Global warming has often been touted as something that may happen sometime in the future, but it has happened and is happening. Global warming's effects are real, and they are affecting real people. Many hardworking Australian farmers are losing their livelihood and homes because of this human-induced catastrophe.
Living a green lifestyle may help Australia and the rest of the world in the decades to come, but for right now, there isn't much we can do about the global warming that has taken place. We can, however, help those farmers through a group called Aussie Helpers.
Aussie Helpers aids farmers by helping them rebuild and preserve their farms. They also provide food, water and medicine to those who have met with financial ruin. They keep Outback families together, provide feed for their dying livestock and keep the banks from foreclosing on their homes and farms.
You too can help those affected the most by global warming. Please help the Aussie Helpers.
