Prior to baseball, America's pastime was indiscriminate shoving. Actually, I don't know what Americans did as a pastime before the advent of modern-day baseball. I'd guess it was probably one of those Medieval sports like swine-gathering or barrel-hurling. You know, something archaic. Anyways, Americans were saddled with baseball as a pastime. The rest of the world plays soccer but call it football.

Earlier this week, I wrote a post about proper baseball bat care. It's a good idea to take care of your sporting gear, especially since sports equipment is seasonal and will often remain neglected for the majority of the year. Proper maintenance is green because keeps our stuff out of landfills and decreases the need for the acquisition of new materials. So take care of your stuff. Without further adieu or non sequitor I give you.

How to Care for a Baseball Glove

1. First of all, vegan baseball gloves do exist. You can play baseball and be a vegan. It's possible, but it will cost you. You have to buy a custom glove.

2. Baseball gloves are usually made of leather. Heat affects them negatively. Store your baseball glove in a cool, dry place out of the heat and light.

3. Baseball gloves are air-dry only. If you spill on your glove, wipe it dry with a towel and leave the rest to time.

4. Oil your glove one or two times a season. Over-oiling will ruin your glove.

5. Tighten loose laces. Replace broken ones.
