A chandelier light fixture can make any room cozier, but if you're not into elaborate antiques or mass-produced contemporary versions, try making your own candlelit option with empty bottles using these instructions from ReadyMade.
Collect clear or frosted bottles (or you could use colored glass for a mod effect) and attach them to a galvanized steel pan from a farm-supply store—for the construction, you'll need some hardware supplies, like galvanized cable, ferrules and stops, stainless-steel quick links, and zip ties, along with basic tools (drill, wire cutter, pliers, a tape measure). Then place pillar candles in between the bottles for a muted glow that's as at-home over your dining room table or in the living room as it is gracing the foyer or over a backyard dining set. Bonus: you don't need to do any electrical work (or run up your bill) to fill your room with light.
