Daily DIY Project: Cardboard Frisbee

For portable outdoor fun, nothing beats the Frisbee: it works whether you're with huge group or alone at the park with your pup, it's easy to carry, and, most importantly, it's just plain fun. But if you don't already own one--or if you forgot it--DIY one from cardboard as Instructables user Kiteman did here.

Kiteman provides a template for the design and recommends printing it on light cardstock. Making this with the kids? Let them decorate it before you cut it out; use markers, pencils, or paints for custom artwork (bonus: this will prevent future fights over which one belongs to which child). Score and fold along the provided lines, and then use additional cardstock rectangles to weight the edges for a more stable flight pattern. Use pegs to hold everything together while it dries, and when you're finished you have a personalized flying disc that won't break your great-grandmother's vase when you pull it out for indoor fun on a rainy day.

The finished product might not be as sturdy as a traditional plastic version, but it's greener than plastic, easy to make, and recyclable once it won't fly anymore--though to make it last longer, we wouldn't recommend letting Fido slobber all over it while playing catch at the dog park. (Via MAKE)
