Skip the toxic dryer sheets the next time you do a load of laundry. Instead of infusing your wash with synthetic fragrances, opt for a naturally scented solution.
Fill an undyed cotton or linen drawstring sachet with dried organic lavender, give the bag a few squeezes to release the fragrance, and then toss it into the dryer with your laundry. Alternatively, you can add a few drops of your favorite essential oil on a hankie or dishtowel.
If static cling is a problem, remove your clothing before it's completely dry and air-dry it on a rack or line. Adding half a cup of vinegar in the wash cycle of your load will also do the trick. (Vinegar will also put the kibosh on any bacteria that may be present in your wash.) Barring that, wear your static-zapped clothing, mist some water in front of you, and walk through it to unelectrify your togs.
