Water to Wine
DCL
2010 is approaching fast. Have you greened up your personal holiday this year? Our planet has been the recipient of lots of green gifts. We've tossed the tinsel, savored and slowed the holiday by alleviating the stress, recycled the wrap, and we've even started DIYing our green gift giving for next year. But wait, there's one more gift to give.
In the spirit of giving, why not raise a wine glass to help others? Not only are the merits of drinking wine getting greener by the minute, one bartender believes drinking wine can save the world.
Most of us have never had to worry about finding clean water. So, it's generally not a subject on our daily radar. But, when I read over at the Daily Grommet how self proclaimed, "washed up bartender, "Doc Hendley, used his bartending skills to organize a wine tasting event that raised funds for clean water initiatives, his project called "Wine to Water," caught my interest.
Doc explains,
"Wine To Water is a non-profit aid organization focused on providing clean water to needy people around the world. Over 1 billion people in the world today lack access to adequate water and sanitation. We are devoted to fighting this epidemic. Wine symbolizes fortune in our society. Our goal is to give the fortunate population an opportunity to fight for those who can't fight for themselves."
