You might look at that beat-up chair front and center at a yard sale or that shabby couch that sits at the back of the thrift store and see a piece of furniture destined for the trash

"I don't think people realize how bad a piece of furniture can be where it's still salvageable," says one of the artists. "As long as the frame isn't broken or water damaged you really can take a piece of furniture and make a complete turnaround."

Those turnarounds are the specialty of the Austin, Texas upholstery shop, where Brown and Joyce spend their days rescuing old pieces from certain destruction and giving them fabulous makeovers that pair new or vintage fabrics with bright paint colors and careful details. Watch them take an old chair from trash to treasure in this detailed video, where they also discuss the nearly-lost art of upholstery, and read more about the pair at Etsy blog The Storque.
