Searching for eco-friendly office supplies has never been easier. Stores dedicated to fighting the environmental fight have been popping up on the Internet like zits on a teenager before senior prom. Their mission: To help you avoid all the bad stuff, while presenting you with desk supplies, paper products, and even break-room provisions that are healthier for the planet-which always bodes well for everyone.
You'll find all the recycled push pins your heart desires at Green Earth Office Supply, for one. Another, The Green Office, stocks conventional products, alongside their greener counterparts, but you can order your search results by "greenness." Handy icons also let you know, at a glance, if a product contains recycled content, is biodegradable, or has reduced chemical content. The GreenLine Paper Company stocks myriad business necessities, including Sustainable Group's recycled cardboard binders and GRC's remanufactured printer and toner cartridges. Even several online stationery boutiques, such as Red Stamp and See Jane Work are seeing green by including eco-friendly categories in their lineups.
Moving on to the big-box names, Office Depot recently launched a Buy Green portal. You can also peruse a Green Buyer's Guide that directs you to selections of Office Depot's eco-friendly wares by category.
And, if you've failed to pry the Staples catalog from your office manager's claws, the office-supply company lists some of the planet-friendler options it offers on its Web site, including its own house brand of recycled printer and copy paper.
