While you might think of playing catch as a warm-weather activity, this fun and easy tutorial from Craft turns the game into an anywhere, anytime activity using just a few simple materials.
Inexpensive knit gloves—which you can get at most dollar stores or drugstores, or which you can upcycle from your "Too worn to keep wearing" giveaway bag—are the key to this game; all you'll need to go along with them are ping pong balls or Wiffle balls (depending on the size of your players' hands) and Velcro circles with adhesive backs. Attach the Velcro to the plastic balls (the writer suggests attaching as many as possible to make it easier to catch) and you're set: when your throwers toss the ball back and forth, the Velcro will stick to the knit gloves.
Try making a set for each of your child's friends as simple birthday gifts or party favors; add a few pairs to travel bags for long trips; or use them as stocking stuffers during the holidays. Since you only need to wear one glove to play, each pair will work for a complete game of catch—and though it's easier to catch a sticky ball, you might still want to keep the younger set away from the china cabinet.
