The domestic doyennes at Martha Stewart (November 2006) suggest one way you can spice up your garden: Dip your garden cuttings in ground cinnamon before potting. Because the spice happens to be a mild fungicide, ground cinnamon can protect cuttings from fungi that commonly cause rotting before rooting.
Gently press cut stems into a small dish of ground cinnamon and let the moisture from the stem pick up the proper amount of spice. Plant the cutting in a pot with sterile potting mix, and you're off to a blooming start. ::Martha Stewart
