"Necessity is the mother of invention." Or, so they say. Not everyone who believes we live in a "throwaway" society goes to extreme measures to recycle, but often that is exactly what drives designers to create.
The Creative Barn saw a problem and found an upcycled solution. They built this retro cassette tape closet to bring some "peace and comfort" into a large open workspace. Its function is to serve as storage space and an office divider. 918 Cassettes tapes were individually screwed onto a wooden frame. The tapes were chosen as a building material because of their retro look.
Does someone on your holiday list go to extraordinary measures to repurpose items for their home that would otherwise be relegated to the local landfill? If you are not inclined to create a map of the best dumpster diving spots in the area, give a handful of inspiration to keep those DIY creative reuse juices flowing.
