Having been married once, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone I like. However, love is blind and you'll not heed my warning. Those big, green eyes of hers are more powerful than any poisonous sentence I can write. So let's just focus on greening your groom experience.
1.The Ring
It is tradition for the groom to give the bride a diamond. Why not get her a man-made diamond? Natural diamonds are often mined in forced labor camps or are stolen and smuggled across international boundaries. That doesn't sound romantic or ethical. Man-made diamonds are made in labs by well-paid technicians. That's the kind you should buy.
Also, consider already-mined gold for the ring. Materials that have already been mined are greener than those that freshly pulled from the earth.
2. The Tux
Renting is generally greener than owning.
3. Invitations
Some may consider it tacky to send out invitation via email. But it was once considered tacky to cook food in the microwave. Let's get the ball rolling by changing the tradition and save some paper in the process.
If you must send paper invites, send invites made of recycled paper.
4. Bachelor Party
Don't drink and drive. In fact, a designated driver is a designated carpooler. Make sure to designate a driver and carpool.
5. Honeymoon
Book an eco-friendly trip. Indulge in ecotourism and book a green hotel.
6. Gifts
Any gifts that you don't want can be donated to the Salvation Army. Otherwise exchange them for things that you need. Having a closet full of crock pots is helping no one.
