Even the greenest person on the block was probably not-so-green at one point. They might have driven a Hummer or littered or even managed a factory that carelessly polluted. You don't know. But your greenest of neighbors had to start somewhere.
Where do you start? You have a bathroom full of eco-unfriendly cosmetics, soaps and cleansers. There is bottled water in your fridge and all your food is, like, packaged four times per morsel.
Once you have your green awakening, you might feel like you should dump all of this stuff as soon as possible. Well, maybe you shouldn't.
1. Use up your old stuff. Use it all up to the last drop. Throwing away your old stuff, unused, isn't going to help the planet. Make those resources and the energy that was spent for that product?s existence count.
2. Reuse your bottles. If you drink a lot of bottled water, don't throw those bottles away just yet. Put filtered tap water in them. They are now a to-go cup. Remember to clean those containers. Water bottles can get just as dirty as anything else.
3. Green yourself first. Like it says in The Bible, you must remove the mote in your eye before you can remove the mote in your brother's. Being healthy is a part of being green. Exercise often and eat right. You will feel and look brilliant, and you will be ready to tackle to larger motes of the world.
