Wedding season is here again. Can you believe it? It's almost spring! If you are about to get hitched, why not plan a greener bridesmaid luncheon? The purpose of a bridesmaid luncheon is to honor your bridesmaids and you can most certainly do that without tons of waste. A greener bridesmaid luncheon is also less pricey which means that whomever is flipping the bill can enjoy the benefits of greening it up as well.
Here are my tips for honoring the planet and your bridesmaids at the same time:
Keep the List Small
Coming from someone that had too many bridesmaids, you will not offend anyone. Everyone understands how difficult the decision is when choosing bridesmaids. The fewer bridesmaids the smaller and less wasteful the luncheon and the more that you can focus on making it personal and beautiful. Also the fewer bridesmaids gifts that you will have to buy each individual girl.
Give an Experience Rather Than a Gift
Instead of wrapping up and buying tons of gifts for each girl, why not give an experience. Choose a green activity that you can all do together. Check out [my guide to giving the gift of a memorable green experienceinstead of traditional gifts.
Skip the Invitations
Bridesmaid luncheons are small and should be amongst your very closet friends and family so skip the overly formal invitations and send an e-card instead. You can design it to be just as beautiful without wasting the paper for each card, the cost of purchasing them, and the fossil fuels that it takes to deliver them.
Serve Light, Seasonal Fare
Your girlfriends, just like you, are likely watching their figures just before they have to fit into their dresses. Do the planet and your friends a favor by serving light, seasonal fare made mostly from veggies you scored at the farmers' market.
