Remember the old saying, "When life brings you lemons, make lemonade?" How many times has life actually brought you lemons. I've never woken up to find a pile of life-delivered lemons at the foot of my bed. Who thought up this expression? It's not very apropos of anything. I think most people like lemons and are happy to have them. I mean, heck, they cost money. There is a demand for lemons. The saying was probably created by family of disgruntled lemon farmers.
Back to the article. Lemons can be used for more than just lemonade or confusing idioms. They can be used to kill weeds. You're not going to want to try and remove all weeds from your garden with lemons. It would be seriously inefficient. But you can kill those weeds that grow through the cracks of your sidewalk. Douse the poor, hopeful, weed pushing mightily and against all odds through the crack in the sidewalk. The lemon juice will kill that weed.
It's an herbicide-free way of getting rid of weeds. Kill the weeds that grow through the cracks in sidewalks is also beneficial to the sidewalk. It keeps the crack from cracking further. And the sidewalk lasts longer.
This tip may not be for everyone. If you live in an area where lemons are not grown locally, it's probably better if you just pull the weed out. Some weeds will keep growing if you can't get to the root. Vinegar supposedly works as an all-natural alternative.
If you do use a lemon, just make sure the lemon is used to its full potential. You know, make lemonade out of it.
