One of the most fun things about fall is how much more time you suddenly find yourself spending indoors, but not feeling quite lazy enough to hunker down by the fireplace with a book and hot chocolate. The fun part comes in because it's the perfect time to put your crafty pants on and use some of the creative energy still lingering from summer to spruce up your home.
Beekman Farm has some great ideas for projects you can easily take on. Here are a few fall favorites:
1. Orange Rind Votives: an easy way to add some candlelight to your home without going overboard at a home goods store, plus you'll get the benefit of a natural scent. Especially great if you're planning any recipes with orange sections anyway, here's a perfect use for the rind. (Make sure to use paraffin-free candles.)
2. Pumpkin lanterns: show the vegetable some appreciation even outside of the week before and after Halloween. Go polka-dot instead of jack-o-lantern style, and of course, save the seeds for a tasty, nutritious snack—and less waste.
3. Hand-pressed holiday cards—if you're anything like me, you'll put off thinking about holidays until you have to and then be in a mad scramble when the time finally does come. But since you're feeling crafty now, why not show your friends and family some homemade love?
