If you've been thinking green lately but have been hesitating to put some of those ideas into action, then we've got an experiment for you. The goal is to pick one day in the coming weeks to be your Green Day ? and then live it as greenly as you can possibly imagine. It's like your own personal Earth Day, just without all the festivals and stuff.

You're going to have to brainstorm a bit?what could you green in your life? And we're talking anything: small or large changes, easy or next to impossible. Consider as many green facets as you can. Here are some guidelines to get you started (with potential difficulty rating included):

Recycling (2/10) ? We'll start with the basics. Do you recycle? Every day? Even at the restaurant where you eat on your lunch break? Today you do.

Transportation (8/10) ? How do you get to school or work? Chances are, you drive. Well, today, you could ride your bike. Yes, even if you live five miles from your workplace?this is Green Day; give it try. You just might wind up doing it again. If you don't have a bike, then public transportation it is.

Eat Organic/Local (7/10) ? And yes, do your best to make everything you eat. All day. It may take some planning, but see how far you can go in making your diet on Green Day an all-organic or local one. Stock up at a farmers' market or at your local CSA.

Watch Electricity Use (3/10) ? This is another easy one. Just watch your power usage, and cut back as much as you can?this means turning off the A/C and heading for the shade, turning off unnecessary lights, and unplugging appliances around the house. If you're really going hardcore, try for an electricity-free day (Difficulty: 10/10). Stranger things have happened.

This Green Day will accomplish a number of things: it should give you an idea of the possibilities open to you in leading a greener lifestyle. It may also very well help you discover new practices that are easy or enjoyable enough to continue doing on a regular basis. Drop us a comment and let us know how you do, or give us some more ideas for a ultra-green day. Enjoy Green Day!
