Upcycle Clipboards as Photo Hangers, Art or Organizers

Creative inspiration for upcycling or reusing things can come from all sorts of sources, from friends and family to the web. A recent post on Desire to Inspire about clipboard photos from Flickr had me thinking about upcycling my old clipboards.

Clipboards get beat up over time, but a little crafty ingenuity will have them in tip top shape in no time. You can cover a clipboard with fabric, craft paper, leftover wallpaper, old maps, pages from fallen-apart books, or a collage of paper materials. Masonite clipboards -- those utilitarian brown ones -- can be quickly cleaned up with a coat of primer and some paint.

Just hang the clipboard up with a small nail or picture hanger, and clip photos, art, or objects to the board for instant decor. The best thing about displaying art in this way is it's oh-so-easy to switch pieces in and out -- no getting bored with your surroundings.

Alternatively, a collection of prettied-up clipboards would make for fantastic decor when hung on a wall in a group. Try two rows of three, each featuring a different design.

These projects will work in any room, but they can really take a home office from boring to brilliant in a flash. Plus, you can use them to clip up inspirational images and notes to keep you motivated and organized.
