Transforming your vinyl record case into coasters for your office is easy—and green.
Being green is a lifestyle. It's about walking your talk and what better place to demonstrate your green lifestyle through your actions than at the office? Incorporating some green practices into your daily work routine can influence colleagues and help bring a collective green attitude to your place of employment. If you're looking for a way to introduce your green beliefs to the office, try making these awesome coasters from an old vinyl record case. Bring these little guys to work and leave them on your desk or a table in the break room and I can nearly guarantee that someone will ask about their origin. And that will be your cue to talk green—starting off with how important it is to reuse everyday items—including vinyl record cases.
How to make a set of coasters from a vinyl record case:
1. Locate your record case.
If you can find a big case, like the kinds that come with double or triple album sets, you'll likely have thicker cardboard to work with which will make your coasters more sturdy.
2. Use a can, or anything else round, to trace circles with a pencil on your record case.
3. Cut out the circles.
These will be your coasters. Use a clear or transparent nail polish, decopage, or whatever finisher you have around to polish the coasters. This will make them water resistant.
4. Enjoy!
These coasters are a great green thing to bring to the office. Try it!
