One family, in the show Wa$ted managed to use 40 rolls of paper towels in one month! During their challenge period, they greatly reduced their paper waste by using towels and sponges instead of inferior paper versions, but what can one do when out and about in the world?
Same thing!
Carry a cloth towel wherever you go. Keep some at your workplace, in your car, in your pocket, and in your backpack. Change them out daily like you do your underwear. Whip one out when you need to dry your hands or your face. Have some clean backup replacements ready to go.
You have seen them at the dollar store for a pack of 10, but if you want to get creative, you can get make them for free from old socks. For spills, cut up old sheets and clothing into rags any size you like. If you need the best, organic cotton towels are available too if you don't mind paying premium.
For that one time when you forget your cloth towel, there are still ways to avoid paper in the restroom. And while there are some brands on the market that offer paper towels made from recycled paper, avoiding paper altogether still wins.
Cloth is classier than paper. Remember when your grandfather blew his snot into cloth rags all day long and then reused them? Enough said.
