Savvy spa-goers know all about facials, they've cocooned their bodies in skin-satiating serums too many times to count and have had their mangled muscles massaged into submission... and now they want more.

Though not normally seen by the public eye (and even more rarely viewed by you), your fanny is about to strut it down the beach in a teeny eco bikini. Don't let it be an eye sore! Instead, treat it to a facial. A fanny facial.

What's a Fanny Facial?

Similar to a traditional facial that you might have done to the other cheeks (the ones on your face), the fanny facial includes cleansing, exfoliating, and moisturizing. But then it goes one step further by adding massage to stimulate circulation and reduce cellulite for a firmer rear.

While several spas around the country offer this cheeky facial, you can do it at home... and you should before you slip that bikini on!

Fanny Facial Ingredients

Tackling tush issues with topical exfoliating treatments including ingredients like cayenne pepper, coffee, and egg, is a great way to better the backside. You can slather the stuff on at home and avoid having to go in for spa appointments (while saving loads of money). Some of the most popular main ingredients are:

Caffeine: Yes, just like the stimulating stuff that we drink to perk up our minds in the morning, caffeine (a known diuretic) gets fluid flowing, pulling excess water out of the cells and temporarily minimizing cellulite's appearance. Plus, because of it's rough texture, it's a great way to exfoliate!

DIY Tip: Make a caffeinated booty scrub by taking your coffee grinds, mixing in a few tablespoons of nourishing olive or coconut oil and scrubbing it onto your backside when in the shower.

Cayenne or Chili Pepper. Certain potent herbs and spices, include cayenne and chili pepper, help encourage circulation, therefore increasing cell turnover and improve the skin, creating a smoother, softer appearance.

DIY Tip: Take ¼ tsp powdered cayenne pepper, add it to ½ cup oatmeal and ½ cup full fat milk and scrub it into your skin when in the shower. Both the textured oatmeal and lactic acid-filled milk act as exfoliants, while the cayenne helps with circulation and cell turnover.

Lecithin and Fatty Acids. Ingredients that include lecithin (such as egg yolk), and essential fatty acids (flax seeds, fish and nut oils) help repair cell membrane and minimize fat's ability to squeeze through connective tissue, turning into cellulite.

DIY Tip: As you might do for a face facial, whip up an egg, then lie on your belly on a towel that you are about to throw in the wash anyway and slather the egg on your fanny. Let it dry before washing it off. The lecithin in the yolk and tightening effects of the egg white will tone and exfoliate your tush.
