All sorts of people care enough about the environment to green up their lives and that most certainly includes people with piercings; body piercings. Body piercings require a special breed of TLC and there are plenty of products adorning piercing parlors everywhere claiming to be the solution for a new piercing in need of a lot of attention.

Having once had a body piercing, I'll be the first to tell you that all of these 'products' can be overwhelmingly scary. Here you are with an actual hole in your flesh and you're expected to just put any liquid solution with a convincing label onto that hole for cleaning? No way.

I never came around to embracing that concept and I wouldn't expect you to, either. Many of these common piercing solutions employ chemicals that aren't exactly natural, or green when washed down our drains. In addition to that, some of their containers are a hassle to recycle.

If you're comfortable enough to make your own piercing care solution like I was, you'll save a lot of money and keep your piercing clean in a greener way.

All that you need to do is combine sea salt with water for your solution.

Wash your piercing carefully, preferably with a reusable/washable cloth so that you don't waste tons of cotton balls thanks to your piercing.

The most important and green thing you can know about your piercing is this: do not touch it. Touching it will cause more problems than you can possibly imagine and it will force you to go to the store and buy a bunch of anti-infection type solutions you wouldn't have had to support otherwise.

Note: If you're worried your piercing is going to leave nastier than need be scars, douse it with vitamin E oil at night. It helped me out a lot.
