Coconut oil has been used in Asia and the South Pacific for years as a hair care product and in medicine. Many claim that oil of a coconut is a panacea for all manner of conditions and ailments. It can clear the skin, bolster the immune system, reduce stress and counteract aging. Even if it can't do all those things, it's all natural and non-polluting and totally safe to use on your noggin. You can also buy it in a glass jar that you can reuse as a cup.
Coconut oil is applied topically to the hair. Just scoop out a headful and rub it on. Many will tell you to wash your hair as if washing it with standard conditioner. This coconut oil nut I know has a different method. She says to liberally rub the oil into the hair. Then don a shower cap. Sleep with the coconut oil in your hair all night. Wash it out the next morning. This method should condition and revitalize even the driest of hair. It's also safe. There are no nasty chemicals, unless you are allergic to coconuts.
Here are a few other methods:
1. Massage your scalp inch by inch with coconut oil. Leave in for 2 hours. This is supposed to increase hair luster and aid growth.
2. WebIndia123.com says, "Apply coconut oil which has been boiled with small onions. Wash it off with a mixture of green gram powder and water drained from cooked (boiled) rice" to remove dandruff.
3. After a shower, apply a tiny amount of coconut oil to your hair. Avoid the roots, just moisturize the ends. Wear in hair all day
