Spring's pretty pastels and bold brights call for shoes and accessories that don't detract from the dress—which might be why so many designers and stylists are turning to neutral heels in beige, tan, and peachy tones. Jessica Alba paired a floaty lavender frock with mary jane-style pumps at the Film Independent Spirit Awards; Kristen Bell chose open-toe platforms to complement her scalloped blue-green number at the Alzheimer's Association's 17th Annual Fundraiser (right), and designers from Lanvin to Christian Louboutin included the color (or, lack of it) in their spring lines. If you're ready to add this look to your wardrobe, try eco-friendly versions—like high-heeled pumps from Terra Plana or wide-strapped, open-toed platforms from Stella McCartney. You can also dye your own shoes with coffee or tea for a pale tan shade; this only works on fabrics that are light-colored to begin with, so if all your old shoes are dark, check thrift stores for a pair you can rework at home.
