If you want to protect your glasses without buying anything new, try this project.
Rectangular tin cans and boxes aren't hard to come by. Candy and gum often come in them and they can even be bought at a craft store. I've had one lying around my apartment for a while now. It was initially filled with pens as a part of a present from a friend, but as its pen-holding career came to a close recently, I had to think of what else I could do with the can. After all, cool tin cans and boxes are neat bases for craft projects to have around. So with extremely minimal effort, I brainstormed and figured out that turning my tin box into a cushy holder for my glasses was easy as pie.
You can do it, too.
How to turn your rectangular tin can or box into a container for your glasses:
Locate Tin Can or Box
Locate your tin can or box. If you like the design on it the way it is (I did!), then keep it, of course. However, if you don't like the design, take this opportunity to paint it or decorate it just the way you want.
Find an Old Sock
Find an old sock.
Cut Ends Off Sock
Cut the ends off of the sock and then cut it down the side so it is a rectangular piece of cushy fabric. Cut the fabric so it is the same length as the can or box. (Note: if you have a cushier fabric in mind, like a strip of velvet, go for that instead!) Finish Glasses Case Place your fabric inside the can or box. If you'd like to secure it in there, get some glue specifically for metal from your local craft store and use that. Set your glasses in the can or box and enjoy! This is an easy way to make a portable container for your glasses. Not only does this project reuse something old and prevent you from buying something new, but it helps you keep your glasses in shape—and the the longer you can keep the glasses you already have around; the better.
