Swap Your Clothes With Friends—Reduce Waste

Clothes shopping has long been a hobby of many women (including myself). Something about seeing yourself in that brand new dress or pair of shoes is exciting to women and thus, women (especially) tend to contribute more harm than they probably realize to the environment through their constant support of the production of possibly harmful materials that go into making their clothing, shoes, accessories, etc.

I think the real thing most women crave when they go shopping is something new TO them, not something necessarily brand new. Don't get me wrong, there are certainly women who are obsessed enough with having 100% brand new clothes on their backs. However, I still feel as though a large majority of women just get sick of the clothes they've got in their own closets and they want to see themselves in something out of the ordinary for a change.

So why not have a sit down with your girlfriends and combine wardrobes? If you have friends who wear around the same size in clothing that you do, you could be wearing new clothes constantly...and they could, too! I've been talking to some of my girlfriends recently about swapping a simple 5 pieces of clothing every week or two. Of course, it's best if these items don't have incredible sentimental or monetary value just in case something spills or tears on them. When I look at my closet, I see at least 5 dressed that I could do without for a week or two in exchange for totally new (to me) dresses.

This wardrobe exchange tactic is not only fun and totally free, but it helps the planet! There's no sense in contributing to pollution and destruction of useful materials if you can satisfy your urge to wear something new by swapping clothes with some friends, right?
