Turn that old VHS case into an eye-catching, fashionable clutch.
I was trying to think of a present to make for a friend's birthday while shopping around a thrift store when I saw 'The Crow', her favorite movie, on VHS. I stood there for a while staring at the tape, probably looking like a crazy person, before I figured out an idea. Once I had the idea for a VHS case clutch, I didn't care so much about the staring off into space in public thing—or how crazy it may have made me seem.
Making a cute clutchfrom your favorite VHS case is easy. It's an awesome way to make use of old VHS cases, a thing of the past for most people, and create an attention-grabbing accessory.
How to make a cute clutch from a VHS case:
Choose VHS Case
Locate your VHS case. Make sure it's one you no longer need.
Cut VHS Case
Cut down about half way on one side of the case and then across.
Cut Off Edges
Cut off the edges to the top flap and glue down a rectangle from the case for an additional pocket to the clutch if you'd like. Finish and Enjoy! Cut a slit on the upper right and left sides of the clutch and use whatever material you like (I used the actual tape from the video) to make a strap. Do this by tying it into the slit on each side. Enjoy! This clutch will get people's attention and present a perfect opportunity for you talk about your green lifestyle.
