The Broward County Sheriff's office has an excellent K9 unit. See more pictures of K9 Chance.

Although he's only been with the Broward Sheriff's Office(BSO) since June 2005, Chance has already more than earned his police badge. Following instructions in English, German and Dutch, he and his canine colleagues find around 4 tons of illegal pot and 600 kilos of cocaine per year.
What's even more remarkable is that Chance is just 4 years old. The golden retriever is one of 34 full-time working dogs in BSO's K9 Unit, making it the largest such unit in the southeastern United States, according to public information officer Michael Jachles.

Chance and his team sniff out illegal drugs and money, but the unit also includes 13 patrol dogs, four bomb squad dogs, nine airport bomb sniffers and one courthouse search dog that routinely patrols the County's courthouses. All of the full-time dogs and their handlers work four 10-hour days per week, including eight-hours of continued training. The sole exception is one Sherlock Holmes-like part-timer: a bloodhound.
"She works out of downtown and is called when we need her," said Jachles.
While the dog is just part-time, the bloodhound's handler is a deputy who also has other areas of responsibility with BSO.
