Misti

30-year-old Misti got into the punk and goth look when she was a rebellious 15-year-old, and she's never gotten out of it. Misti thinks her bright red lipstick, pale face and dyed black hair look cool - her friends and family think she looks trashy and frightening. And at just 5 feet two inches tall, Misti is obsessed by one pair of ugly platform-soled shoes. She wears them with everything even though they're falling apart. Stacy London and Clinton Kelly need to get Misti out of her too tight clothes, the "Frankenstein shoes" and persuade her that by changing her style, she can make herself appear taller and more approachable. But does she want to? Hairstylist Nick Arrojo and makeup artist Carmindy will also have to battle to get Misti to give up the flat black dyed hair, the red lips and the pale foundation. But after 15 years, can she bear to give up her goth look and become a normal woman?

Misti's Hair and Makeup

Hair by Nick Arrojo

Hair Products:

• KMS Flat out shampoo and hair prepare
• KMS Flat out light relaxing creme shine serum

Color process:

1. First Nick cleansed Misti's hair with Wella Blondor +30 vol with KMS clairifying shampoo until hair lifted to a level 8 orange.

2. Misti's hair was then shampooed with Shinbi ppt do shampoo.

3. Shinbi protein TRT was applied to balance PH so the color would take evenly.

4. Highlights were then applied with Wella blondor bleach and 10 volume at the roots and 30 volume at the ends.

5. 5B and 20 Volume of Goldwell permanent top chic were then applied to roots and processed 20 min.

6. Equal parts of goldwell permanent 6B+6kg and 1/4 of mixture 5G+20 thru end for 10-15 minutes.

7. After a rinse and shampoo, hair was towel dried and highlights toned with 3/4 of 8GB + 1/4 of 8N (Goldwell colorance semi permanent) approximately 10 minutes until hair became a honey blonde.

Cut & Style:

1. Misti's hair was cut into a razored choppy bob.

2. KMS Flat out shampoo and hair prepare was used and hair was blown out with flat brush.

3. KMS Flat out light relaxing creme was applied for texture and straightening and shine serum for a smooth finish.

Makeup by Carmindy

Makeup Process:

1. Even out and warm up skin tone with foundation.

2. Apply a translucent face powder.

3. Fill in eyebrows with a warmer color to match hair.

4. Apply a white shimmer under brow and inside tear duct of eye.

5. Apply a light taupe eye shadow (MAC Bamboo eye shadow) to lid.

6. Use a chocolate brown eyeliner and sweep a retro line along uppper lashline. Smooth a chocolate brown eye shadow with an angle brush to soften the line.

7. Apply mascara to top and bottom lashes.

9. Apply red lipstick.

• Everyday - Try to wear a lot of browns rather than blacks. Create a longer look by getting skirts that hit at the hip. For jeans, try high rise or medium for a long, lean look. Do not get boot cut jeans.
• Job Interviews & Work - For a '50s-inspired look try a great shirt with a cardigan sweater. Misti should try green and aqua colored shirts to bring out the color in her eyes. With skirts, don't go past the knee. Use accessories to express individuality.
• Going Out at Night - Wear a flaired skirt to hide hips. Stay away from clunky shoes which truncate the look.
