Congratulations, you're getting married! Planning a wedding is wonderful, but it's also extremely stressful. Luckily, you have your bridesmaids to help you deal with all that extra pressure. And while your BFFs are sure to do a fabulous job, who would you pick if you could have a celebrity stand up for you on your special day?
Would you select a star based on the roles she's played or her real-life antics? Which celeb would work best for you and your wedding? Think about what kind of bride you want to be: Are you a traditionalist, planning every detail by the book, or are you completely outrageous and want to throw a unique event that your guests will remember for years to come? Whatever type of bride you plan to be, there are sure to be at least several famous ladies on this list that would fit right into your wedding plans.
Read the next page to find out which A-list humanitarian could bring her super-hunk husband to your nuptials.
10: Angelina Jolie
Angelina Jolie is a fiercely private, independent, Oscar-winning actress. She's also a mom, filmmaker and a humanitarian powerhouse. Having Jolie help plan your wedding would be both a bit intimidating and thrilling. She's played a wide range of roles, but we think her own personality is complex enough to make your big event the talk of the town.
We don't envision Jolie planning a wild and crazy bachelorette party -- a decade ago would have been a different story, however -- but we've heard she still has a dark side. If you're a disciplined, creative person who likes to think outside the box, we believe Jolie would be your wedding partner in crime. Plus, you can have her gorgeous children walk down the aisle. And she might bring Brad! (Yes, we know you only have eyes for your new hubby, but a few glances never hurt anybody!)
9: Natalie Portman
If you're an avid supporter of environmental causes and avoid all animal-based foods (or if you just really love the "Star Wars" prequels or movies about tragic ballerinas), Natalie Portman is your go-to celebrity bridesmaid. She's vegan, eco-friendly, adorable, an incredible actress and, well, adorable. This Oscar-winning new mom says "no" to fur and leather, opting for more environmentally friendly materials like canvas and satin. She also sports a green engagement ring, complete with conflict-free diamonds and recycled platinum.
Portman's not one to be outrageous in speech or attire, and we believe she'd bring an air of quiet sophistication to your wedding. She would also keep the event's carbon footprint to a minimum by helping you find eco-friendly dresses, flowers and everything else, all with the grace and charm she's famous for.
8: Chelsea Handler
You may be getting hitched, but that doesn't mean you need to settle down just yet, right? We think Chelsea Handler is the perfect wildcard bridesmaid. The host of the wildly popular television show "Chelsea Lately" and author of such bestselling books "Are You There, Vodka? It's Me, Chelsea," Handler is anything but a conventional woman.
Maybe you're a bride who has seen it and done it all -- and loves to laugh about it. Handler has a sharp wit and unflinching honesty about her life that she's not afraid to share with the rest of the world. We think she'd be the kind of bridesmaid who may not agree with everything you say, but would have a nice martini ready for you when you need one.
7: Bethenny Frankel
If you're an entrepreneurial-minded bride-to-be, you probably already know about Bethenny Frankel. A reality TV darling, Frankel first came into our living rooms on Martha Stewart's version of "The Apprentice" in 2005 as a business-savvy firecracker determined to make a name for herself. She's brash and can be crass, but always with a dose of humor for good measure.
Frankel entered Forbes' Celebrity 100 in 2011 as a result of her outstanding entrepreneurial skills. She has her own signature Skinnygirl cocktail line, inspirational memoirs and an under-the-microscope show about her marriage and motherhood. Her quirky spirit and tell-it-like-it-is style has garnered her many fans. Not only will Frankel's brilliant business mind and fabulous connections help you plan your dream wedding, we think she would truly gush over your big day. If you're a bride who needs a strong woman to collaborate with, we think Frankel would be your best bridesmaid bet!
6. Sandra Bullock
Often called "America's Sweetheart," Sandra Bullock has played many memorable characters, such as pushy Margaret Tate in "The Proposal" and the caring Leigh Anne Tuohy in "The Blind Side." Her slapstick comedy has been compared to that of Lucille Ball, and she's as classy as they come.
What we love about Bullock is her down-to-earth style and ability to adapt to various roles and personal situations with absolute grace. Smart and sophisticated, Sandra Bullock would be the sister you never had (or the sister you want yours to be). If you're a bride-to-be who needs a bit of hand-holding and motherly attention from friends, Sandra Bullock is the perfect celebrity bridesmaid.
5: Oprah Winfrey
If you're the type of woman who looks for inspiration in all that you do, adding Oprah Winfrey to your wedding party would be a good choice. She's like a guiding light. Her inspirational persona will help you tap into your true potential for both your wedding and your marriage. For more than 20 years, Winfrey has spoken to the hearts and minds of people everywhere, through her book club's reading choices, hard-hitting interviews and touching humanitarian efforts.
People love Winfrey's playful side as well. While we adore her for making us think about life (and shed some tears in the process), we also admire her generosity and penchant for gift giving. Who didn't look forward to her yearly "Favorite Things" holiday episodes, when guests would find amazing gifts under their chairs? We envision her being your most generous bridesmaid, showering you with attention, affection and the ability to make the most out of your wedding planning experience.
4: Drew Barrymore
Drew Barrymore had her fair share of adolescent angst, but over the years we've fallen in love with the quirky characters she's played, such as the forever-forgetful Lucy Whitmore in "50 First Dates," sweet and naive Julia Sullivan in "The Wedding Singer" and even kicking butt as Dylan Sanders in "Charlie's Angels." Barrymore is like the best friend you've always wanted -- free spirited, fun and charming -- and would be a great addition to your bridal party.
Drew also doesn't shy away from humanitarian efforts. She's been a World Food Programme Ambassador Against Hunger since 2007, traveling to Africa numerous times in support of feeding hungry children. She's also donated more than $1 million of her own money to help support anti-hunger efforts in Africa and Haiti. If you're a bride-to-be who is as one-of-a-kind as Drew, we think the two of you would make great wedding collaborators.
3: Tina Fey
When you're planning a wedding, who doesn't want a little -- or a whole lot of -- comic relief. Clash too much with your mother-in-law? Have a crazy cousin you can't dis-invite? Tina Fey is your perfect match for the snarky, borderline-inappropriate humor you need to survive your wedding. A smart and hilariously talented writer and comic, first for "Saturday Night Live" and now as Liz Lemon on "30 Rock," Fey will keep everyone laughing with her sarcastic wit and unrelenting humor. No one will be safe (and we think that's kind of awesome).
2: Lady Gaga
If you're hopelessly over-the-top, Lady Gaga would be your ultimate bridesmaid. Gaga is anything but predicable. Don't want to wear a white wedding dress? She has a penchant for outrageous costumes (No pants! The meat dress! Shoes without heels!) Having Gaga as a bridesmaid would be like collaborating with a wildly creative brain we'd all like to pick. If you want a wedding that resembles a production, we recommend going Gaga.
1: Martha Stewart
You're the ultimate bride, the Bridezilla to end all Bridezillas. You've been planning your wedding since you were 7 years old. You may not know exactly what you want in terms of dress, invitations, theme, flowers and décor, but it has to be perfect. And it will be, because Martha Stewart is your bridesmaid!
Who hasn't needed Stewart at some point during the wedding planning process? She's like the MacGyver of crafts. We assume she'd be able to transform your wedding into a world-class event with a supply of tea light candles, some wood glue and a ream or two of crepe paper. We envision Stewart, glue gun in her hand, single-handedly choosing (or creating) the most gorgeous and trendsetting wedding elements you've ever seen. With one of the most powerful women in media by your side, you may just have the most literally picture-perfect wedding -- ever.
